We had 54 players join us from as far west as Calgary, south as Kitchener-Waterloo, and east as Nova Scotia, making this our biggest ChaosCon yet. Magicians braved the unseasonably icy weather and hunkered down for 6 rounds of Old School.
It was also the most an Old School event in Ottawa has raised for charity. Thanks to all our players, we raised $3,063 for Ottawa’s Pavilion Food Bank. An especially big thank you to those who donated money with their entry, donated items for the auction, shared the event, drove friends, put up friends in their homes, and helped me on the day-of.
Our venue for this year, Braumeister Bierhalle, kept the beers and the spaetzle flowing with many hoping we would return here next year.
As for the field, there was no shortage of aggro decks both from Ottawa players and visitors, with many players eating several Lightning Bolts before the day was done.
Several players we’re playing their ‘usual’ decks, some weren’t. Either way, everyone was there to vibe, metagame, drink, or all the above.
A pair-down upset in Round 5 meant after 6 rounds of Magic, we had a conclusive winner.
Kyle Peterson from Oshawa was the sole 6-0 after 6 rounds on DibAtog. Congratulations Kyle!
